Merry Christmas 2008 and Back to the Basics

I would like to take this time to send out a very MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of my friends and family. I know times are hard right now and I am grateful that I have friends and family who know and understand what the true purpose of Christmas is and that if the gifts from one another are few, it doesn't mean you're loved any less. I have always believed in going back to the basics when it comes to Christmas.

We all must agree that Christmas has been commercialized waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy tooooooo much. It has gotten out of hand. Well now that the United States is in a recession, instead of stressing about the economy and how you are not able to buy for everyone, or buy enough for everyone, take the time to revolutionize your Christmas'. From this year on, do not partake in the commercialization of the holidays anymore. This is your out.

Tell everyone unfortunately due to the state of the economy, you are unable to spend a whole lot of money on Christmas presents but know that I love you with all of my heart and I would give you the world if I could but I just can't afford it. There it is done, everyone will understand. Next year do not go into great debt again to have to climb your way out for the rest of the year and start over and do it again.

I would much rather receive a tin of Christmas cookies if you insist on doing something other than sending an e-card or something. As I have gotten older and felt the pressures the commercial industry has created for so many of us, I did myself a favor years ago after watching my mother stress over how to make Christmas so special for all of us,and decided I would not start that way with my children. As of today my children are practically grown and have never complained about the gifts they received nor did they compare theirs to others. My husband and I never went into credit card debt over Christmas. It feels great and I encourage you to try it.

I love my friends and family and after God they are next and they all know it.

DO NOT STRESS OVER IT! MAKE A DECISION AND STICK TO IT! I PROMISE YOU WILL FEEL GREAT.
