Dubai Mall and Global Village

Let me just say MERRY MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone. To my family I love and miss you very very much and wish I could be with you but I am thinking of you all.
December has been a busy month for us. We did find time however, to go to the wonderful Global Village and to the all new Dubai Mall. Within the Global Village, you can visit several different countries. By visiting several different countries I mean in every building the theme is that of a different country. For example, one building represents Europe and inside you find a huge market that carries items indigenous to Europe. In another building, let’s say Egypt, you find things you would find in Egypt. The vendors are willing to bargain with you.
At Global Village we found some really awesome items and some we bartered with the vendor on a very low price. There are many deals to be had like just to get in; it was only ten Dirham, which equates to less than five dollars US. Once inside, the first thing we saw was a camel and a pony of which you can ride for a minimal price. I did not ride either. I was afraid the camel would bite me or spit on me hahahaha. The pony was well, a pony. Everyone including the pony and camel were dressed warm because it was chili to say the least. It is in the desert after all.
There was a wonderful gantlet looking canal or channel which you could pay for a boat ride. There were wonderful displays and dancing of which varied a little from one country to the next. There was plenty of food of which, differed a bit as well. At the end of the night, there was a wonderful show of fireworks. The Global Village was the perfect end to a wonderful day of new experiences.
The Dubai Mall was huge and sparkly and bigger than life. There are more than 1,200 retail outlets and fantastic attractions like nowhere in the world. From the first floor skyward, there is a beautiful Christmas tree that seemed to be one hundred ft. or more tall that changed from all white to all red to all green and then mixed the colors up. Then, there was the Aquarium that was just phenomenal. The aquarium contained everything from sharks to needle fish. Stingrays are always awesome to watch flow through the water so relaxingly. The aquarium was probably two to three stories high and as wide as half a football field with a glass tunnel running through it. Walking through the aquarium with the sharks up close and personal was incredible. I almost forgot about the absolutely huge ice-skating rink.
The food court is everything you’d imagine it to be considering this mall is already fabulously huge with more stores than you can visit in a week, maybe two weeks. There were sales in almost every store and some stores were still not open. I am excited to go back.

Very rarely do I ever blog without pictures so here you go….
